The Culture Information Systems Centre (hereinafter - Centre) shall, from August 2023 until May 2026 as a cooperation partner implements the Investment 2.1.2.1 of the European Union Recovery and resilience Mechanism Plan project No 2.1.2.1.I.0/1/23/I/VARAM/007 “Integration of media content into the Digital cultural Heritage Platform” of the “Central Platform and System of Governance” administered by the national Library of Latvia.
The Centre will implement the development of a specialised media language corps within the framework of which valuable regional media records (VHS, SuperVHS, Betacam, MiniDV, DVCAM) will be digitised for nearly 6,000 hours. The established specialised language corps will be used for training and adapting the existing model of the Latvian State Administration Language Technology Platform Hugo.lv speech recognition solution, and as a result a new process for processing, subtitling, indexing audio-visual content based on technologies embedded in the Hugo.lv will be introduced into the Digital Library Platform.
Objective of the project: Integration of valuable content created by Latvian media into the Digital cultural Heritage Platform of Latvia, while developing existing and creating new platform functional capabilities and solutions for the preservation, processing, distribution and creation of new content.
Project benefits: the Latvian Digital Library platform will provide search for audio and video subtitles and access to the specific recording location. The development of these and other new platform capabilities will build on existing platform sharing technological solutions: the Single Digital Heritage distribution system – the Digital Library, the Digital site Management system (DOM), the Reference data system (ATS) and the Copyright Management and Licensing system (APLIS).
